The Trinity ice hockey Rocks are anxious to “challenge again for a state championship,” according to head coach Jeff Smith. “The team is returning seven junior and senior starters, as well as returning a very strong core while adding several new players. The entire coaching staff is excited to see this team perform at the highest level to make this a great season.”

In additional comments on the THS Athletics hockey page, senior Nate Zimmerman expressed an equally positive outlook: “As a result of the recent pandemic, the Trinity hockey team has missed out on two full regular seasons. This year, we are excited to be back in action with a relatively full game and practice schedule. A majority of our games are on Friday nights at Iceland Sports Complex, and we hope that students will come out and support. Despite having a wide range of skill and ability, we are confident that our competitiveness in the KHSHL will be on par with years past.  As always, our team goal is to win a state championship, so we will continue to work hard and push towards that achievement.”

The Rocks hope to avenge an earlier loss as they next take on Northern Kentucky at Iceland on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m.

The Rocks fell to the St. Xavier Tigers 6-3 at Iceland on Dec. 16.
