Trinity High School senior Ryan Gustafson, son of Trinity ice hockey head coach Mark Gustafson, signed a national letter of intent to participate in collegiate athletics at Eastern Kentucky University.

The signing took place at a ceremony held Feb. 6 at Trinity.

“Ryan has basically grown up with Trinity ice hockey for the 15 seasons I have been coaching and is a natural-born hockey player,” coach Gustafson said. “He has a great passion for the sport, immense talent and skill, and backs it up with an intense work ethic. He is not only a tremendous asset to the team but also an unselfish player who has proudly led this season as one of two co-captains, and has been referred to as the heart and soul of the team.

“Ryan holds Trinity’s single-season scoring record, scoring 54 goals, 33 assists and 84 points during his junior year with the Shamrocks. To date, he has already broken that record in fewer games, with 10 games remaining on the regular-season schedule.”
