Lacrosse During postseason play, the Rocks (17-1) defeated KCD 18-2 in the state quarterfinals and Collegiate 15-3 in the semifinals. They will face St. Xavier in the lacrosse state final Friday night at 7 p.m. at St. Xavier. * Sumner Franklin will play lacrosse at Centre College. Baseball Trinity went 2-1 over the past week, defeating South Oldham (4-0) and Highlands (12-10) before falling to Lexington Catholic 3-2. Tennis The regional champion Rocks faced St. Xavier in the sectional tournament on May 11. Trinity lost 3-0 in the sectional semifinals. Senior Emerson Walsh reached the semifinals of the state tournament. He lost to Brandon Lancaster of St. X, 5-7, 6-4, 10-4. In doubles action, Trinity had two teams in competition. Bryce Liston and Austin Strause advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Lone Oak. Mustafa Gardezi and Randy Strause also won their third-round match, defeating Lone Oak 6-0, 6-1. Gardezi and Strause moved on to the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-3 win. Liston and Strause fell 6-0, 6-3. Gardezi and Strause were defeated in the semis, losing to the Tigers 5-7, 6-2, 11-9. Rugby Trinity faced archrival St Xavier in the state rugby championship May 12. The Rocks fell to the Tigers 31-22. Louisville Catholic Sports Awards Night Three Trinity students were among the award recipients at the Louisville Catholic Sports Awards Night. Senior Sam Allen-Kawa won the Mulloy Properties Community Service Award, senior John Zehnder won the R.G. Stallings Student Manager Award, and junior Jake Smith won the Publishers Press Billy Reed Journalism Awards for photojournalism. Ultimate Frisbee The finals for each division of Ultimate Frisbee was completed yesterday with each match going inside the final minute of play. In the freshman division, Daniel Williams’ team defeated a strong team of John Sommer’s by a 4-3 margin. In the sophomore division, after a 2-2 halftime score, teams traded goals as Jake Mattingly’s team scored last and prevailed over James Inman’s team in overtime, 6-5. In the junior division, Conner King’s team turned a deep turnover into a quick score followed by another on the next possession inside the last two minutes and came away with a 7-5 victory over Matt Fahy’s squad.
