Aquinas House wins House Cup Aquinas House won its first House Cup, besting finalists Becket, Dante and Flannan. Aquinas is led by Director Mrs. Betsy Darby, Mr. Terry Bean, Mr. Jason Daniel, Mr. JT Torra, Mr. Matt Manning, Mr. Chad Waggoner, Mr. Scott Holzknecht, Mr. Joseph Chittissery Mathai and Mr. Mike Szabo. Student leaders for the House are Mason Grant, Joe Reynolds, Ian Cox, Grant Bowling, Davis Barkley, Alex Reisert, Brad Stephenson, Stephen Lionetti, Ryan Fischer, Ben Kopriva, Yancey Pritchett, Jack Harrison, Lucas Burch and John Hasner. Michael Rosenfeld places 1st in annual Congressional Art Competition One of senior Michael Rosenfeld’s photographs won an award in Congressman John Yarmuth’s seventh annual Congressional Art Competition. Rosenfeld’s photograph “My Phone and I” finished first in the Best Use of Composition category. His work will be displayed in Louisville International Airport’s Pegasus Gallery for the next six months. Each spring, members of the U.S. House of Representatives host the Congressional Art Competition to recognize and encourage the artistic talents of high-school students from across the nation. This year’s competition boasted 118 submissions from 11 schools in Kentucky’s 3rd District. 3 from THS to receive ACE Mentor scholarships The following students from Trinity will receive a $1,000 scholarship to a college of their choice from ACE Mentor Louisville, Inc.: John Bindner, Matthew Huetz and Mitch Sirianno. Print and broadcast journalists excel in KHSJA competition – both groups win third place General Excellence The results are in for the Kentucky High School Journalism Association competition. Online newspaper the ECHO earned a Third Place in the General Excellence cumulative points category — ranking among the best in the largest school category in the state. Individual honors went to the following: Jake Smith………..First in Sports Writing; Second in News Writing Philip Truman……First in Feature Writing John Cerjak………Second in Sports Writing Chris Pfeiffer…….First and Second in Photography Yearbook………….Third in Graphics Against some of the toughest competition in Kentucky, Trinity’s broadcast journalism students brought home nine awards from the Kentucky High School Journalism Association contest. Award winners were as follows: Michael Corrigan won first place in the Documentary and third place in Videography categories. Hayden DeLozier won third place in VO/SOT. Jonathan Dunn won first in Humorous Feature, second in News Package, second in Sports Package, and first and second in VO/SOT. Ori Youngblood placed second in Humorous Feature. TTV also earned a Third Place in the General Excellence cumulative points category — ranking among the best in the AAAA category in the state. 2014 senior class officers elected The five newly elected class officers for next year’s Senior Class are President Mark Hines, Vice President Charlie Tancula, Secretary Ray Hyde, Treasurer Alex Dugan and Sergeant at Arms Michael Franck. They will be sworn into office at the Junior Class Mass on May 8.
