Nolyn Steffey has had a very successful senior year at Trinity. Example One: Last year, Nolyn was elected by his peers to serve as a Senior Class officer. Example Two: Steffey was given the special honor of leading one of the senior retreat groups while still a student at Trinity. During this time, he was able to show his leadership while expressing the brotherhood he shares with the Senior Class. Example Three: Steffey received recognition at the Senior Prom: the Mr. Trinity Shammy Award. Shammy Awards go to seniors based on voting by the entire class. Example Four: Steffey has been honored by the Rotary Club of Louisville with the Unsung Hero Award. He was nominated for award by Trinity teacher and counselor Mr. Jeremy Jackson. Jackson said, “He deserves this award. It fits him.” The A.B. Sawyer Youth Recognition Award, the “Unsung Hero” Award, is about performing well in the classroom and participating in community service. Steffey found out about the honor on Feb. 23. He said, “I was surprised and also honored. I thank Mr. Jackson for nominating me,” Steffey accepted the award Mar. 21 at the weekly Rotary Club meeting in a ceremony at the Galt House Hotel. He received a certificate and a check for $250. Nolyn Steffey has had, without a doubt, a very successful senior year.
