What’s your idea of a fun Saturday night? Videogames? TV? Grabbing a movie with some friends? How about heading to school? Probably not, right? Surprisingly, this is exactly what 63 Trinity students did when they showed up for the Fall Dance. At 9 o’clock sharp, students and their dates walked into Alumni Hall, greeted by flashing lights, loud music, and, of course, a disco ball. The usual arrangement of chairs and tables was gone, pushed aside to make room for a makeshift dance floor. In the center, Trinity alum Aaron Bott ’08 stood atop a raised platform surrounded by speakers. Bott recently started his own company called Untouchable Productions and was hired to DJ the dance. The playlist for the night included a mix of new and old hits, even an electronic remix of “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The soundtrack was a hit as students and their dates danced enthusiastically, enjoying the music with their friends. Mercy Academy senior Alayna Whalen said the music was “amazing, of course” and the main reason she came. While the dance was a success, Director of Activities Joe Henning said it could always use improvement. He said students should be more involved in the way the dance is run. Already, he has received several suggestions, some asking to include all four classes, moving the location, and possibly switching some of the decorations of the dance. Henning said he is grateful for these suggestions; however, he can always use more. He encouraged students to e-mail him with further input. When asked if he had anything to say to the students who stayed home, junior Keith Wilson said emphatically, “You’re missing out!”
