It’s ‘All in the Timing’ for Trinity’s Department of Theatre Arts
November 13, 2014
Trinity’s Department of Theatre Arts, under the leadership of Artistic Director William P. Bradford II and Producer C.J. Rush, will present three more performances (Nov. 13, 15, 16) of “All in the Timing” by David Ives.
The seven one-act plays are described as follows:
“Sure Thing” — a short comic play featuring a chance meeting of two characters, Betty and Bill, whose conversation is continually reset by the use of a ringing bell, starting over when one of them responds negatively to the other.
“Variations on the Death of Trotsky” — The play fictionalizes the death of Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky through a number of distinct variations.
“Words, Words, Words” — Three chimpanzees, named after famous authors and expected to write “Hamlet,” for the most part waste time engaging in pointless banter, while occasionally inspired to make grandiose literary allusions.
“Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” — a musical parody of minimalist composer Philip Glass.
“The Philadelphia” — At a restaurant, a man is informed by a friend that his frustratingly unlucky day is the result of his ensnarement in an anomalous pocket of reality, called a “Philadelphia,” in which he will only be fulfilled by asking for the opposites of what he wants.
“Seven Menus” — a round-robin of relationships at a restaurant table, as demonstrated by a group of friends that change, couple by couple and course by course, throughout several different meals.
“Mere Mortals” — eavesdrops on a lunch hour on a girder 50 stories over the street, as three construction workers share increasingly amazing secrets of their past.
