This Spirited Pair Investigates Ghosts

Forde Womack, Editor in Chief

Welcome to a world of paranormality, a place where the unusual is the usual and our guides are Trinity sophomores Tom Spalding and Kameron Jordon.

These young investigators, who have some experience with the paranormal –specifically the afterlife — started T & K Ghost Invesigators.

“It all started when we went to Waverley (Hills Sanatorium),” Kameron said.

Tom joined in: “It started out as a project for (Mrs. Darby’s) Gothic fiction (class), and we just started going places.”

Tom and Kameron started their small company in early April, so they’re still trying to get a grasp on the afterlife. Although some may find this silly, these two souls have, in fact, experienced paranormal phenomena.

“My first experience,” Kameron said, “I was in my house, and my grandparents died when I was a kid. They were said to have walked around my house. I didn’t fully know until I was 11 when I felt a hand run through my hair and it quickly went away.”

Lead investigator Tom’s experience was a bit stranger.  He said, “I sat on a bed a long time ago. It was at my grandparents’ house — it used to be a plantation. I was sitting on the bed, and I slowly saw an indentation on the bed sheets. It was clearly noticeable so I stood up and I kicked the bed — and it was still there.”

These chilling experiences formed what Tom and Kameron want to do, to solve the questions that no one has answered and open doors that no living person has opened. The two work well together because they’ve known each other for six years. “We have known each other since the fifth grade, and we talked about coming to Trinity when we were old enough,” Tom said.

The team spoke about the equipment they use while investigating ghosts:  “We have voice recorders,” Kameron said.  Tom added, “EVPs — it’s Electronic Voice Phenomenon. We have some cameras, but we’re trying to get more equipment, and we’re also trying to get sponsors and T-Shirts.”

At this point the team is gaining experience by investigating for free and only on weekends.  According to Tom, they’re is a whole community of people who follow ghost shows and do their own mini-investigations.  You only have to look as far as the Travel Channel’s “Ghost Adventures” to see major interest in the paranormal.

The T & K team is looking for investigators. “One thing we need is more people,” Tom said. “We need someone that knows their way around a camera and other investigators. If you get in contact, we will hold interviews.”

Next investigation for T & K? The Battle of Perryville in Bardstown.
