Rugby Falls in State Championship Game; Tennis Doubles Team Reaches Final Eight

Athletics Office Update:
Rugby —
* In only their third season as an official Trinity sports team, the rugby Rocks completed their season on Saturday, falling in the state championship game to St. Xavier 26 – 0. The match was much closer than the final score indicated.
The progress and improvement in the competitive level of play by the Rocks over the last couple of years is noticeable. The game officials approached coach Arnold and coach Plouffe after the game and made such comments. Congrats to the rugby team!
Tennis —
The Trinity doubles team of seniors Mustafa Gardezi and Austin Strause advanced to the final eight before falling to McCracken County at the state tennis tournament in Lexington.
The Trinity doubles team of Tommy McConville and Sam Rueff was defeated on Friday in the round of 32.
Baseball —
The varsity baseball Rocks finished the regular season with a record of 23-9-1. The frosh and JV teams both won over 20 games as well.
Trinity will host the 27th District baseball tournament beginning today at Thurman Hutchins Park on River Road. The Rocks take on Seneca today at 5 p.m. The rain date for this game will be Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The district championship game is set for Wednesday evening at 5 p.m.
Track & Field —
Coming off of their regional championship performance last week, the track and field Rocks will compete in the state championship track and field meet at the University of Kentucky on Saturday, May 23.
Location — UK outdoor Track & Field complex
Meet Time — Begins at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday
Parking — Commonwealth Stadium or parking garage on Sports Center Drive
Special Note — The UK campus has quite a bit of construction on roadways. Allow extra time.
