Ms. Maria Martin, KUNA Adviser

A message from Ms. Maria Martin, who, along with Mr. Walter Mata, accompanied the Kentucky United Nations Assembly group this year:

I can’t express the pride and satisfaction that I feel watching our 46 young men not only be the Men of Character they are as Trinity brothers, but as delegates who were praised by many advisers from other schools, and by members of the Y staff as an outstanding, respectful and engaged group of young men.

It is an absolute pleasure to work with these guys from the Y Club all year long through weekly meetings, guiding them, watching them grow and work together as they prepare their proposals and resolutions with so much seriousness, knowing that even if the Conference is a “mock” conference, the issues presented are global issues that affect us all.

This group of 46 young men shone today during the awards ceremony and filled Mr. Mata and me with so much pride!

Results of the conference:

Outstanding Delegate   –   Henry Snyder

Outstanding Speakers   –   Wyatt Ringo and Jacob Romines

Resolutions passed:

Resolution #73  –   Convention on the revision of migrant worker laws  (Qatar)  – Egide Nzimulinda (Sponsor)

Resolution #7    –   Convention on responding to attempts to restrict trade routes   (Bahrain)  –   Nathan Doran, Adron Vrona, Luke Norris, Nick Thevenin (Sponsors)

These two resolutions won an additional award for receiving the endorsement of the Secretary General because of the level of preparation on the issues by the Sponsors who researched, wrote and presented them.

Outstanding Statesmanship Award –  Awarded to the delegation who exemplifies the four core values of the Y at all times, and who have 100 percent participation on the debates  –  Trinity High School

International Court of Justice Advisory Case:

Advisory Team Award  –  Bryant Reynolds and Sammy Boyance-Stampley

Outstanding Justice  –  Chosen for Justice next year (KUNA 2017) for his outstanding questioning and analysis as a delegate of the International Court of Justice   –    Bryant Reynolds

SECRETARY GENERAL for 2017 KUNA  –   Chidum Okeke

Chidum ran an amazing campaign at the conference! He was praised by many advisers and members of the Y Club. His speech yesterday afternoon was amazing!

GO ROCKS!
