To start the season, the volleyball Rocks defeated DeSales and followed that with a 3-1 slate in a Quad match. A member of the 12-man varsity team, senior Justin Allen answered a few questions about his volleyball career.

Q: How long have you been playing volleyball?

A: I have been playing volleyball since I was in the third grade, and I continue to play because I enjoy (the game).

Q: What inspired you to begin playing volleyball?

A: I first got into volleyball because a lot of my friends decided to play when we were younger. I also had played volleyball at the beach with some family members before I started playing indoor volleyball.

Q: Who has taught you how to play the game?

A: Coaches (Kelly) Gillooly and (Brian) Bowles have both taught me a lot about volleyball. Coach Gillooly was my coach from sixth grade through junior year but couldn’t coach this year because of the pandemic.

Q: Any one memorable moment during your career?

A: I think it’s hard to pick a most memorable play.

Q: What would you tell others who may be interested in volleyball?

A: I would tell them that it’s really fun, and you can play volleyball almost anywhere, so it’s a good sport to learn to play.

Q: Do you have any goals for this upcoming season?

A: My plans for the upcoming season are to have a good impact on the team and to hopefully win state.
