A Quick Six with Spring Sports Senior Will Millett
May 3, 2022
Whether it’s on the ice or the water, Trinity student-athlete Will Millett knows how to compete at the highest level. On Saturday at Lake Cumberland, the fishing Rocks earned region runner-up and advanced the boat team of Millet and freshman Cameron Bryant to the KHSAA State Championship Fishing Tournament, to be held at Kentucky Lake May 12-14. Will recently answered a few questions about his athletics career.
Q: When did you begin fishing competitively?
A: I began fishing on a team last year.
Q: What is your outlook for the state fishing tournament?
A: I am going to fish the state tournament at Kentucky Lake in mid-May. Hopefully, my partner and I can catch some good fish.
Q: What skills are needed most in this sport?
A: Patience is the number-one thing needed in this sport. You need to be able to persevere through hard times with no luck to find a pattern and then be able to get some fish in the boat.
Q: What is your favorite fishing team memory?
A: My favorite memory was finishing second in the regional tournament. Out of 143 boats, my partner and I ended up catching over 14 pounds of fish and qualifying for the state tournament.
Q: In what ways do you plan to continue fishing after your high school career is over?
A: I hope to be able to fish for my college team, but I am not sure if I can make it or if it will line up with my schedule. I also will keep on enjoying my passion for the outdoors and fishing for a lifetime.
Q: What is your fondest memory of Trinity High School?
A: My favorite Trinity memory was scoring against St. X in my brother’s senior night (hockey) game. I was on the ice with my brother, and we had a great play that ended in a goal. When I scored, the crowd went wild, and by brother and I jumped up in the air and hugged to celebrate. That moment was the creation of my favorite photo.
