Trinity High School welcomed back English teacher Brian Hancock to the family at the beginning of this fresh school year. A new, young face like Hancock is exactly what Trinity was looking for when they were in search of new teachers. Hancock goes right along with the virtues and values of Trinity as he looks forward to providing young men the tools to become men of faith and character.
In an interview conducted by the ECHO, Hancock talked about how Trinity always has had a special soft spot in his heart saying, “People know each other more at Trinity… it has a different feel.”
Hancock talked about how good it is to see some familiar faces in the halls that he saw when he was a student at Trinity. “It was interesting for me to see how Trinity has evolved but also to see some familiar faces… it has been a really nice welcome back.”
Hancock is the newest member of the Seton Bulldogs house at Trinity, replacing former English teacher Mitch Greenwell.
Hancock is no beginner in the field of teaching as he has previous experience teaching English at New Albany High School. Hancock talks about how Trinity is a closer, more tight-knit community. Having graduated from Trinity in 2009, he will continue this career of teaching English at his old and new home.
Back when Hancock was in college, he had thoughts about wanting to teach. Hancock talked about how he has always loved to work with younger people saying, “Being able to guide them on their journey, but also watch them grow and evolve into even better versions of themselves.” Hancock decided not to teach for a long time but had a “reawakening” of some sort during the COVID-19 pandemic. After the pandemic, Hancock knew what he wanted to do and that was to teach.
Hancock talks about how he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to return to the halls of Trinity when notified of the opportunity. Hancock said, “When the opportunity arose come back, it was an opportunity I could not pass up.”
The Trinity family is very excited to see how Hancock impacts the school in his first year back!
