The wrestling Shamrocks are fresh off a great last season with former senior wrestler George Ferree
bringing a state championship back home.
One of the senior wrestlers for this season’s team is Malachia Harris, who has consistently placed in
tournaments throughout his career. Last year, he came in second in the state finals. Harris seems too eager to take first this year. “Keeping your mindset straight constantly and don’t ever slack off because you don’t want anyone else working harder than you.” The work ethic that wrestling involves is much different than any other sport.
Harris mentioned wrestling as one of the hardest sports he’s ever done. “Not to shame any other
sport but wrestling is a different bread when it comes to working out in the room day in and day out.”
Harris has set the bar high for himself with expectations this year. “My goal is to win state and
hopefully get nationally ranked before the senior year is over.”
Harris, who is a great mentor for the underclassmen wrestlers, gave some advice for young wrestlers out there: “Take advantage of the off-season — it builds you as a wrestler and gets you a lot better.”
Good luck this season, Trinity Wrestling Team!
