Some readers may not know much about the new Key Club at Trinity High School, but students at Trinity are certainly familiar with the Key Club’s work: this previous fall, the Key Club hosted Trinity’s first ever car show, which was a fundraiser for the Franciscan Kitchen and Hope Scarves. So what exactly is this organization?
Key Club is a group that devotes its time to help and provide for those in need. Trinity’s Key Club is held in Mr. Michael Budniak’s room every other Thursday and is led by senior Will Martin, who serves as its president. The club is a service group that helps others in need inside and outside of Trinity. So, what makes this club special from others?
The Key Club not only gives back to others but supports those in need. Martin spoke on one of his most impactful projects. “The most understated one is the gift bags for the homeless. We hand them out personally, and talk as well as pray with them. I think it is one of the most understated impactful things we do.” Key Club is separated from other clubs at Trinity due to its care for the emotional needs of others. “I joined the key club because I’ve been given so much in my life that I feel I need to give back to others,” Martin said. Martin also mention that Key Club has made him a better person and he strongly encourages others to join.
Key Club is one of the more welcoming clubs at Trinity. Anyone who would like to join the Key Club must talk to Budniak and he will offer assistance. The key club has around 15-20 members per meeting/event and welcomes all students at Trinity.
All in all, the Key Club is a club where students can come together as a small community to help others and bring good to the larger community in the Louisville area. This club does great work for the community and always seeks members to help contribute. If students or members of the Trinity community missed their first car show, there will be one this spring also benefitting Franciscan Kitchen and Hope Scarves. Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Trinity’s campus.
