Coach Kevin Hunt is in his 4th year of being the head coach for the Trinity Bass Fishing Team. Coach Hunt is no stranger to the fishing team as he was also a boat captain for two years before becoming the head coach. Hunt was excited to get involved at Trinity. “When I was asked to take over as head coach there was no thought. I love helping new and experienced anglers learn and grow on and off the water.”
Hunt has led many teams to a successful season. Last season, three out of the six teams qualified to compete in the state tournament at Kentucky Lake, with Porter Conover and Luke Wissing finishing in 16th place overall. Hunt said, “That is the best I have had a team do at the state tournament during my career as a head coach and I think it might be the best Trinity has ever finished.”
Hunt’s favorite memory with the team was when his son (Harrison Hunt) and Oliver Carmack finished in the top 10 at Lake Cumberland during the regional tournament. “That would have to be my favorite memory because my son and his partner worked hard to finish top 10, yet there are so many great memories I have made with this team over the years.”
It seems like this upcoming season will be one full of new memories to be made. The spring season is looking very promising for the Rishing Rocks with their first big tournament being the Battle at the Boarder at Dale Hallow Lake on March 16th. This year, Trinity has five teams that qualified for the Battle at the Boarder, which is made of 100 High School teams from Kentucky and 100 from Tennessee. The tournament will be tough, but the Fishing Rocks are up for the challenge. Good luck this weekend, Coach Hunt and all the Fishing Rocks!
