The Speech and Debate Rocks kicked off their season Saturday with a strong showing at the first Wyatt Debate League tournament. The Congressional Debate Rocks ended up in an inter-squad competition with freshman Tyler Woods in fifth, freshman Parker Beaven in fourth, junior Max Corbett in third, senior Ian Beierle in second, and senior Hayden Deitz in first.
The novice PF team of freshmen Ryan Huber and Owen Tafel advanced to finals and placed second. They also took the top two speaker awards with Tafel in second and Huber in first. With this strong showing, both Tafel and Huber have also earned membership to the National Speech and Debate Association, a national honors society for speech and debate students.
