Roman Valera is a vital piece to the Trinity Shamrocks Wrestling Team. Already being a key contributor his junior season, he sets his sights on his senior year. The ECHO sat down with Valera to learn about his story.
ECHO: What got you into wrestling?
Valera: “I tried out for my sixth-grade basketball team, and I ended up not making the team, so I got a flyer from one of the coaches at my middle school and they just introduced me to it.”
Why did you transfer to Trinity your junior year?
“I knew I knew a bunch of guys here beforehand, and it just felt like home. I switched out and it felt awesome.”
What is your favorite Trinity wrestling memory so far?

Where do you plan to go to college?
“University of the Cumberlands to wrestle.”
What’s your advice to underclassman at Trinity?
“Just keep working at it. Whatever subject or activity it is, if it’s a sport, if it’s school, just keep working at it, keep trying your hardest and you’ll succeed eventually.”
What’s your go to pre-match song?
“It’s either Nobody Gets Me by SZA or something by BigXthaPlug.”
What’s your pre-game meal?
“It’s probably a six pack of chicken minis, a bunch of liquid IV and a bunch of water.”
What is your favorite movie?
“Scarface.”
What is your favorite candy?
“Definitely Skittles.”
Goodluck to Roman and the entire Wrestling Rocks team as they take on their season!
