Trinity Wrestling Takes on Central Hardin on Senior Night

On Tuesday, February 4th, the Trinity Wrestling Rocks took on Central Hardin in Steinhauser Gym for their senior night. Even though the Rocks lost 36-30, head coach Raleigh Abbott was really happy with the way the Rocks performed. “It was a good match for our younger players, so I was impressed with our performance.” With the flu going around the team was not at full capacity. Coach Abbott said, “Big thing to learn from our mistakes, younger guys have not had the same amount of experience. So, getting the rest of them back, getting back to practice, getting back to drilling and going back to fundamental wrestling is what is going to get them to the next level.”

Senior wrestler Jacob Cowan said, “The biggest thing to crack down on is definitely just building up my leg strength and getting off the bottom. I mean as a whole team that is what we kind of struggle with, but I hope in this postseason we can get that down and locked out before state.” The Wrestling Rocks are always looking forward, Cowan said. “We have a duel and we got regionals. We are trying to get first place again, it would be the sixth time in a row, so that would be pretty nice.”

The JV wrestling Rocks compete at state Feb. 15. The varsity regional tournament is on Feb. 22, and the state tournament is Feb. 28 through March 2 at KY Horse Park in Lexington. Good luck, Wrestling Rocks. TAKE STATE!
