Trinity Tennis has always been a major name thrown around in Kentucky state tennis. In the midst of a promising season, Coach Chet Allen believes that this team is capable of doing big things. Despite wanting to win, Trinity tennis comes with a strong feeling of brotherhood and compassion, all the while developing players as a man of faith and character.
Senior Tyler Solon has been on the team all four years of his high school career, seeing the ups and downs of the program as well as players coming and going. “I have gotten to know so many people and it’s so helpful just to make friends, but also grow as a brother, a teammate, and a leader.” Currently the first string doubles player (along with junior Griffin Phillips(, he has been able to grow his relationship with younger players and help set them up for success here at Trinity. Trinity Tennis provides an environment that allows growth and fostering relationships.
Coach Chet Allen acts as an anchor not just for the team, but a mentor for each player to help them grow and has been on the team for 5+ years. Allen said, “I try to coach my players through my failures and successes, and make sure they make great choices and right decisions.” He ensures his players know that education comes first and foremost, to solidify their future success. Coach Allen graduated from Trinity in 1985 and has cemented Trinity as a part of his history. Coach Allen said, “Trinity has always been a part of me. What I like so much about Trinity is the brotherhood, camaraderie between the students, as well as what Trinity stands for and believes in.”
Coach Allen and Solon both hope to remain strong leaders and guide the team to a successful season. Because of these 2, Trinity Tennis will remain a vital part of our community and continue to represent Trinity as men of faith and character.
