Trinity Baseball Unveils New Indoor Batting and Pitching Facility

Categories:

In September of 2024, Trinity High School began their newest project toward the baseball field: an Indoor Batting and Pitching Facility. It is now actively being used by the team every day during practices and before games.

The facility can be found down the left field line between the field and the parking lot. It features three large hitting tunnels with additional turf space that can be used for bunting, tee work, and defensive drills. “The facility has 3 dedicated hitting tunnels with additional space to focus on bunting off a machine or t-work for 6-8 additional hitters,” said Coach Rick Arnold. “The area can also be modified to utilize 5 or 6 pitching mounds or an area where infielders can focus on ground ball work.”

Another additional space is a newly created “pitching lab,” and it is equipped for training pitching mechanics, band work, plyometric drills, and core velocity belt training.

Coach Arnold emphasized the year-round benefits: “Our new indoor facility will be a huge year-round benefit because we can train regardless of the weather outside. Prospective baseball players will be able to hit and throw on a regular schedule… [and] multi-sport athletes can do some baseball training around their in-season sport as schedules allow.”

The idea for the building dates back to 2019, when Trinity’s baseball stadium was still under construction. “The plan for the indoor complex was originally wishful thinking,” said Arnold. “We referred to the indoor facility at the time as ‘phase 2’ of the Trinity Baseball Complex.” The vision came to life thanks to the collaboration between the Trinity Foundation Board, Dr. Mullen, Athletic Directors Saxton and Duggins, and a small group of dedicated supporters of Trinity Baseball.

The community’s response has been overwhelmingly positive. “Our players and coaches count our blessings every day and we are incredibly thankful to everyone involved,” said Arnold. “The work we get done daily at the Freshman, JV, and Varsity levels has been a huge help to our players and our program.”

Whether rain or shine, this new facility represents another major step forward for Trinity Baseball—and a clear investment in the program’s present and future.
