A familiar face that many at Trinity might recognize is Mr. Kevin Wangler. As the Director of Information and Technology at Trinity, his work is mainly behind the scenes and not often seen by students. He has been working with Trinity since July of 2004, initially as a consultant from another company, but he has been a member of the Trinity staff for 12 years.
Wangler said, “Every day is different, which is why I like it,” regarding his schedule. When talking about consistent parts of his day, he stated, “In the morning, we [discuss] what are our hot button issues, what needs to be done right now.” In addition to solving tech problems, he handles paperwork, invoices, and meetings. Given how tech-oriented his job is, Wangler noted that the next major upgrade coming to Trinity is the new STEM lab, set to open next year. He has been working closely on the project and is extremely excited to help establish the building and see Trinity earn its STEM certification.
In addition to managing technology across the school, Wangler also teaches two elective classes: Video Game Theory and Analysis and Computers and Technology. In the next few years, there is talk of adding another course he hopes to teach, called Video Game Production, in which students will learn how to create a game, including the coding and modeling processes involved.
What makes Trinity special to Wangler is “the way that the faculty take their job seriously and how much they do things in the interest of the students.” His favorite memory at Trinity was during the pandemic, due to how well the school handled the situation. He recalls being contacted by several other schools asking what Trinity was doing because they had heard things were going well. This is just another example of what makes Trinity great.
