Senior Spotlight: Colin Sander

Deep drive to right field—it’s going, going, gone! Senior shortstop Colin Sander kicks off the game with a bang, launching a leadoff home run to right field. Committed to Indiana State University, Sander is off to an impressive start for the season with the Trinity Baseball Rocks.

Recently winner the Courier Journal Athlete of the Week, Colin is focused on continuing this momentum throughout the season. His ultimate goal? Winning a state championship with his team.

“Being committed feels good because my future is set in stone,” Sander shared. “Now I can just focus on playing this season at Trinity.” He credits his ability to balance school and baseball to the time management skills he’s developed over his years at Trinity.

Colin has been playing baseball since he was just three years old. Born in Michigan, he later moved to Tennessee before settling in Louisville in seventh grade. Looking ahead, he hopes to play baseball as long as he can—and when his playing days are over, he plans to start a business. At Indiana State, he intends to study business and prepare for that future.

On the lighter side, Colin shared a few of his personal favorites. His go-to pregame meal is pasta, and when it comes to fries, he’s a big fan of Chick-fil-A—but only if the sauce is included.

This is just a glimpse into the life of Colin Sander, a standout athlete with big dreams. Keep an eye on him this season and beyond as he takes his talents to the next level at Indiana State.
