Last Saturday, the Trinity Cross Country Rocks ran in the Tiger Run at Champions Park, the first race of the 2025 season. The Rocks scored first place as a team in both JV and Varsity races, with impressive times across the board.
In Varsity, six of the top 11 runners were from Trinity as the Rocks led the pack. Senior Drew Koon ran a 15:29 5k, placing third place overall. In JV, Trinity boasted 11 of the top 20 runners. With such strong performances, Trinity dominated the field.
The meet was exciting, with family and friends watching and cheering for the Rocks. Supporters followed the race, walking up and down the field to watch the race. The experience of watching the race was electric, and anyone interested in going to a future race is encouraged to come out.
Thomas Cave, the new head cross country coach, weighed in on people coming to support Trinity runners. “I would tell the students here at Trinity that if you’ve never been to a cross-country race, it’s a very exciting event. The more energy we have as far as spectators whether that be parents or students or teammates it really does help our racers.” These guys work hard and they’re happy if they see people come by their tent or watch the race.
After the successful season opening, Cave is looking forward to another great season. Trinity has a strong program and has won many state championships in the past. “The main goal is to win a state championship. We got second last year, and we felt like we should have won that. A secondary goal is to continue to develop Trinity Cross Country into a nationally prominent program.”
With a supportive team dynamic and a strong start, the Rocks are set to have a good season.
