Trinity High School prepares for the annual Pride Week festivities on Monday, building up to Friday’s varsity football rivalry game against St. Xavier at L&N Stadium.
Pride Week is a weeklong tradition at Trinity organized by the school that features themed dress-down days, spirit activities, and a loaded athletics schedule. The goal of Pride Week is to unite students, ignite life around the campus, and prepare the community for one of Louisville’s most storied athletic matchups.
When talking about the Varsity football game, Griffin Brunstetter, a Senior Class Officer and Pep Club Member at Trinity said, “It’s always a fun and competitive game that brings the community together.” In order to get ready for the game on Friday, Trinity has planned a loaded Pride Week schedule.
Students at Trinity will be able to dress down throughout the week, beginning with an 80s theme Monday, Jersey Day on Tuesday, Hawaiian Shirt Day on Wednesday, and Spirit Day on Thursday. Also, during the week Trinity will showcase different school spirit activities that include the “Track the Tiger Tails” game and the “Mystery Pride Persons”, ending the week with the patio cookout on Thursday and the annual Pep Rally on Friday.
The athletics schedule adds excitement to the week with multiple Trinity teams facing off against Saint X. On Monday, JV football travels to Saint X for a 5:30 pm game. Tuesday, the Golf Rocks compete in the regional tournament at Nevel Meade. Soccer hosts Saint X for a tripleheader on Wednesday with Freshman, JV, and Varsity at 4:30, 6, and 7:30 p.m. Freshman football plays Saint X on Thursday at 5:30 pm. Rounding out the week on Friday is the much-anticipated Varsity football game at 8 pm at L&N Stadium.
On the significance of this upcoming week, Trinity President James Torra said, “Pride Week is a special time for the entire Trinity community — students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families — to come together and celebrate all that makes our school special. Throughout the week, we show our school spirit, support our clubs, teams, and activities, and honor academic achievements. We also take time to recognize our generous donors and supporters, appreciate our Catholic mission, and reflect on the strong, vibrant culture we’ve built together since 1953. Most importantly, Pride Week is a chance for all of us to live out this year’s theme: Seize the MomenT.”
Pride Week has been a great tradition at Trinity, giving students the chance to show their school spirit. With spirit days, athletic events, a cookout, and a pep rally that all lead to Friday night’s kickoff, Pride Week gives Trinity students and fans plenty of opportunities to celebrate the history of our school.
