Rocks Conquer New Turf: Trinity Dominates Male in a 46-0 Victory

The Trinity Football Rocks went on the road this past Friday to take on the Male Bulldogs on unfamiliar ground. The Bulldogs debuted their brand-new field for home and away crowds on Friday — their first home game of the season —  with a lot to prove. Coming off a commanding 41-28 victory over Carmel the week prior, the Rocks intended to keep their momentum going for the rest of the season. The Rocks proved in this game why they will never be out of consideration for a state title.

Leading the offense was quarterback Zane Johnson with a performance close to perfection. Throwing for 226 yards and three touchdowns, Johnson completed 12 out of 16 passes for a completion rate of 75%. On the receiving end of this offensive onslaught was Cross Watson, hauling in an 80-yard touchdown, and Jayce Duvall, finishing with 57 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Manning the run game, Jamaurion Berry led the team with an impressive 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries. Romelle Spearman added 78 yards and a touchdown of his own to reinforce the lead. Sophomore Ashton Taylor contributed 39 yards and a touchdown, culminating in four rushing touchdowns for the Rocks on the night.

On the other side of the ball, the Rocks were dominant on defense, holding Male to a lackluster 69 rushing yards and just one yard through the air. Locking down five tackles, including two sacks, junior Sebastian Blue led the way for the defensive charge, with Luke Vize and AJ Hughes contributing their own important stops on the line. The Shamrock defense ended the game totaling 55 tackles, four sacks, and three tackles for a loss.

Special teams contributed to the lead with Chris Kehdy connecting on three extra points and Peyton Hilbert adding one of his own, giving the Rocks healthy padding to their already comfortable lead.

Trinity wasted no time in the game, jumping ahead 20-0 in the first half and adding a touchdown in the first few seconds of the third quarter. The Shamrocks finished with a total of 442 yards compared to Male’s 69, dominating the Bulldogs in all facets of the game.

Riding the momentum of two wins in a row, Trinity now turns its focus to its most important rival of the season. The Shamrocks take their talents to the Cardinals’ L&N Stadium this Friday for the Trinity–St. X game, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. As always, go Rocks — and beat St. X!
