Trinity High School is preparing for some exciting updates that will give students more opportunities in academics, the arts, and athletics. From a brand-new STEM Career Center to possible upgrades to the gym and theater, there’s a lot to look forward to on campus in the next couple of years.
In an interview earlier this month, Principal James Torra shared his excitement for the new STEM Career Center, which is set to break ground soon. “These opportunities are very student-driven,” Torra said. “They increase opportunities, increase support, and provide spaces that our entire community will benefit from.” The STEM Career Center will drastically increase the square footage of classroom and lab space, giving students room for bigger projects and more hands-on learning. Art classes will also move into the new building, giving students a chance to collaborate across subjects. Once those moves are complete, the classroom currently used by Mr. Hammer will be converted into a new counseling center that holds space for five counselors in one central spot.
Athletics and student gatherings are also part of the vision. Torra explained that there have been ongoing discussions about renovating the Steinhauser Gym. The idea would be to create a student center with new classrooms, gathering areas, and flexible spaces for Masses, assemblies, and athletic competitions like basketball, wrestling, and volleyball. “There are a lot of special moments in Steinhauser Gym,” Torra noted. “A renovation would allow for even more.”
The school is also considering a future renovation of the theater, home to Trinity’s well-known productions led by Ms. Reedy. A performing arts center would not only elevate the theater but also provide music students and the wider campus community with a new space for performances and events. It’s important to note that all of these projects will be funded through donations, not tuition increases. Alumni and supporters play a key role in making sure students have the best opportunities possible. With the STEM Career Center and counseling center set to open soon, and other projects being considered, Trinity is looking toward a bright and exciting future.
