On Friday, Oct. 17, the Trinity Shamrocks took on Eastern High School at Marshall Stadium, taking home the win with a final score of 37-0. The game served as an exciting preview of what to expect in the approaching postseason and reflected the team’s hopes of continuing a dominant run. The commanding win was highlighted by elite performances on offense, defense, and special teams, showing that the Rocks are cohesive in all three phases of the game.
The victory was largely earned through the passing game. Junior Zane Johnson threw for 210 yards and five touchdowns. The talent on the offensive side of the ball is evident, especially in the receiving corps, where Johnson’s five touchdown passes were spread among five different players: Cross Watson, Jack Stivers, Kaleb Warner, Jason Hagan, and Ashton Taylor each hauled in a touchdown reception.
The defense was equally impressive, allowing only 17 passing yards and holding the Eagles to minus-18 rushing yards. The Rocks also recorded five sacks and a safety. Along with dominant outings from both units, kickers Christopher Kehdy and Owen Zoeller combined to make five extra points on five attempts, showcasing Trinity’s all-around strength in all three phases.
As postseason play approaches, the Rocks are looking to win yet another state championship. With their sights set on title No. 29, the focus remains on finishing the regular season strong. The Rocks close out the regular season back at Marshall Stadium on Oct. 24 against Oldham County, aiming to secure a win and carry the momentum of a three-game winning streak into the postseason.
