The soccer Rocks followed a victory over St. Xavier in the Region 7 championship game Saturday night with a 5-1 semistate win over Fern Creek last night at Mercy High School.
In the win over St. X, junior goalkeeper Eric Goranflo stopped the final penalty kick in the sixth round to seal the victory.
Goranflo, Jacob Dickerson and Sam Stockton were named to the All-Region team.
Of the victory over Fern Creek, Trinity senior Charlie Tancula, who scored a goal at the 9:11 mark of the first half, said, “I thought we played well. It definitely wasn’t our best game, but at the end of the day, we got a 5-1 win. We did what we needed to do, and the season continues.”
The Rocks next face Ashland Blazer in the state quarterfinals.
