The ECHO spotlight this week shines on world languages teacher Señor Carlos Cuenca, who teaches teaches Spanish I and II, and Senior Class officer Charlie Tancula.
Cuenca is from Ecuador, a Spanish-speaking country located on the west coast of South America between Colombia and Peru.
Life in Ecuador: “Life in general in Ecuador is more laidback and less stressful. The food there is really good and it’s organic.”
Teaching Style: “I try to be entertaining by showing videos, playing music, and using the workbooks. I try to work in a different way. I try to figure out what the students like and dislike.”
If Not Spanish, What Would You Teach? Music, because one of his main hobbies is playing the piano.
Impressions of Trinity: “I believe that private schools have the space to teach fully. The teachers share the new methods of teaching.”
Impressions of Trinity Students: “The students have better manners here, and I think the teachers enjoy teaching here more. I also like the fact that the students are close with a strong brotherhood. They are united in being one of the best schools in the nation.”
Tancula is Senior Class vice president. On Being Elected VP: “It’s an honor to be second in command. I didn’t expect to be elected, and it sure means a lot. I want to repay everyone for what they have given me.” On Balancing Soccer and School Work: “What encourages me to be successful in school is how my parents support me when I’m struggling. It makes me want to go to them — and my friends have helped me a lot.”
Advice to Fellow Students: “Be an example and the right role model for each and every one of us.”
