Q & A with recent grads reveals memories and insight

Since 1957 thousands of students have graduated from Trinity High School, each one with a unique perspective on their experiences. A talk with some recent grads revealed memories and quite a bit of advice for current students.

Conor Carroll '09

Q: What is one of your favorite memories from your time at Trinity?

                                                                                  

A: “The best memories were the ordinary times, the lunch table shenanigans and the five minutes between classes.”

Q: What do you miss most about Trinity?

A: “The community.  The feeling of walking through the hallways and knowing you are surrounded by individuals who truly care for you.”

Q:What advice would you would give to current students at Trinity?

A:“You are only going to get out of it what you put in.  Get involved in as many things as possible and don’t be afraid to move outside your comfort zone.”

Q:What was the biggest difference between high school and college for you?

A: “The sense of community.  In college I made great relationships with people; however, nothing truly compares to the Trinity brotherhood. It’s more than just a good marketing slogan.”

Q: What was the most important thing you learned while at Trinity?

A:“Loyalty.  Not to certain colors, the power T, or a football program, but loyalty to people.”

Charles Foster

Q:What do you miss most about Trinity?

A:“The cafeteria food. My college food isn’t as good as Trinity food.  Also, playing basketball for Trinity.”                                                  

Q:Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently while you were at Trinity?

A:“I wish I had taken a couple classes seriously instead of going through the motions.”

A: “You are on your own. Teachers do not care if you come to class or not.”

Q: What is one of your favorite memories from your time at Trinity?

A: “Going on retreat and listening to everybody’s stories of life and what they been through, and getting closer with my senior class.”

Tanner Williams

Q:What is one of your favorite memories from your time at Trinity?

A:“One of my best memories was advising with (Barry) Swearingen.  Also giving the baccalaureate address.”

Q;What do you miss most about Trinity?

A:“I miss the teachers and guys I talked to every day the most.”     Tanner Williams '12

Q: What was the biggest difference between high school and college for you?

A: “The biggest difference between college and high school was the structure of my days and the free time.”

Q: What was the most important thing you learned while at Trinity?

A:“The most important thing I learned at Trinity was the power of respect and friendship with all types of individuals.”

Eric Witte

Q: What advice would you would give to current students at Trinity?

A:“Meet as many people and make as many friends as you can. High school is a unique opportunity.”

Q: What do you miss most about Trinity?

A: “Going to class with all my brothers and no girls. As weird as it sounds, it’s the most fun you’ll ever have in class.” 

Q: Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently while you were at  Trinity?                                                                                                          Witte, Eric IMG_8352

A: “I wish I would have spent more time talking to teachers outside of class. They’re actually really cool, and they will become people you talk to even after graduation. It can help you do better in class, too.”

Q:What was the biggest difference between high school and college for you?

A:“There’s a lot more responsibility in college. You have to do more work on your own and be diligent to do well.”

Q:What was the most important thing you learned while at Trinity?

A:“Respect and care about everyone you meet, especially your Trinity brothers.  Everyone has a story and a lot going on that you necessarily may not know about. You can also learn a lot from the people around you. People also will return that respect and care.”

Q: What do you miss most about Trinity?                                            Jesse Harrod '09

A: “The brotherhood. I miss the camaraderie of a group of people coming together as one.”

Q:What advice would you would give to current students at Trinity?

A: “Keep persisting in your school work. Make sure you stay on top of your studies and make room in your life to have a little fun. Enjoy your time while you can.”

Q:What was the biggest difference between high school and college for you?

A: “The work load and difficulty. There was a bit of an adjustment to prepare for tests. Much more studying is required.”

Q:What was the most important thing you learned while at Trinity?

A: “If you want to achieve a goal, never quit trying, and never let anyone tell you can’t achieve it.”

Q: Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently while you were at Trinity?

A: “Enjoyed my time a bit more. I got too worried about college, and I wish I focused a little more on what I had at the time.”
