Mr. Francis, How Does Our Garden Grow?

ECHO Staff

Whether it’s via Skype, in the classroom or in some other realm, Trinity science teacher Mr. Marlon Francis believes in making his lessons come to life — sometimes literally.

Francis described lessons that took his students to an area outside the Marshall Center: “Last school year the seniors established a tire garden where they planted culinary herbs, strawberries and banana peppers. Yesterday (Aug. 17), my Earth & Space science class, harvested banana peppers and prepared them into a pickle! They will use these in their cookout next semester.

“This area of the course is on sustainability, so this activity will connect the content that follows.”
