Cross Country Rocks Ready for State Meet

ECHO Staff

Following a third in the Class 3-A, Region Four race, the Rocks will vie for a state title on Nov. 7 at the Horse Park in Lexington at 2:00.

Led by Trevor Warren’s third-place finish (15:46:10) in the regional — held on Halloween — the Rocks finished behind South Oldham and Eastern.  The Rocks’ Sam McCalpin (sixth, 16:02:95) and Jacob Burnam (11th, 16:30:06) also finished in the top 11.

Head coach Chad Waggoner expressed optimism about the chances for a state title: “The coaching staff believes in this group, and if we run even just close to our best, we can win another state title because our strength has come in the form of a pack that has often been within 15 seconds of each other.”
