Sunday, Sept. 11, the 15th anniversary of “9/11,” afforded those who attended the annual Grandparents Mass a chance to remember those who have provided for and sacrificed for their families, as well as those whose lives were taken in the horror that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001.

Trinity Chaplain Fr. Dave Zettel celebrated the Mass.

Earlier in the week Trinity President Dr. Rob Mullen reminded the school community that “we lost an alumnus, Ron Gamboa ’86, and his family, in one of the WTC airplanes. His memorial service was held Friday of that week at THS in Convocation Hall, per his family’s request. Once the public learned that we lost an alumnus, a makeshift memorial grew up around the rock outside Steinhauser Gym. Flower bouquets, American flags and notes were left. People would park nearby and then stand or kneel at the site. He has a memorial monument in Cave Hill Cemetery. There is a plaque in the rotunda mentioning Ron and a scholarship that was established in his memory.”
