Trinity teacher Mr. Larry Winegarden’s aerospace science classes launched rockets today at the football practice field.

In an email about the project, Winegarden wrote, “These rockets are powered by gunpowder motors that are ignited electrically. Two weeks ago the classes launched rockets that were built from kits. The rockets to be launched are those that the students designed themselves. The individual rockets parts are commercially produced, but the finished products are of student design.

“The students were divided up into groups of two, with the groups building two rockets apiece (one large and one small). The smaller rockets are meant to be two-stage rockets. They’re designed to be two-stage, so hopefully they’ll fly as two-stage rockets.”
