A day after Ash Wednesday and the start of the Lenten season, the Most Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D., Archbishop of Louisville presided at a schoolwide Mass.

Concelebrants at the Mass, held in Steinhauser Gymnasium, were Rev. David Zettel ’58, Trinity Chaplain; Rev. Brandon DeToma ’00, Associate Pastor at St. Bernadette Parish; and Rev. Frederick Klotter, Pastor at Holy Spirit Parish.

Having survived a battle with cancer, Kurtz spoke of  his blessings and the power of forgiveness. He blessed wristbands in support of Trinity teacher Mr. Steve Tompkins, who is in his own fight with cancer.

Trinity President Dr. Rob Mullen also spoke of the impact of cancer on the lives of so many.  Speaking shortly before the singing of the Trinity Alma Mater, he cited the powerful words “In her halls we find God’s truth,” written by Trinity’s second principal, Dr. Dave Hazelip H’96.
