Cross Country Rocks Win Regional — Sophomore Oetken Individual Champ

Sophomore Eli Oetken finished first in the Class 3A, Region 4 race.

A team that can no longer simply be described as young, the Rocks can call themselves champions after bringing home a Class 3A, Region 4 title on the heels of sophomore Eli Oetken’s first-place finish.

Trinity (29) finished ahead of second-place Eastern (34). Ballard (39), Oldham County (41) and South Oldham (44) rounded out the top five.

Oetken ran a 16:08, besting runner-up A.J. Kern from South Oldham (16:19.90). All Rocks finished in the top 30 — freshman Ryan Kimery (seventh), junior Morgan Frederick (14th), junior Gabe Storey (15th),  junior Elliott Crumbo (16th), freshman Sullivan Yaden (22nd), and freshman Jack Frederick (29th).

The KHSAA Class 3A Boys Cross Country State Championship Meet will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. at the Bourbon County Cross Country Course, 1054 Millersburg Road, Paris, Ky.
