Patrick Owens, a 2020 Trinity graduate, placed first in the 90kg (198 pounds) at the United States Powerlifting Association State Championships, held Dec. 4 at Everyday Athletes in Louisville. Owens set three state records: squat (578 pounds), deadlift (672 pounds), and total (1,559 pounds — squat, deadlift, and bench 309 — combined).

Trinity teacher Gary Owens said he and his wife, Beth, were most proud of “the number of folks who came up…and told me how much they love and admire Patrick as a person.  It was also awesome to see the number of people that came up to him to celebrate with him after his successful lifts.  Honestly, this means more to Beth and me than any state record or medal.”
