Trinity hosted one of the state’s largest speech and debate tournaments on Jan. 14.  The tourney included 29 schools from two states and more than 400 entries.

Rocks head coach Amy Zuccaro led the way in coordinating the invitational, which involved most of Trinity’s campus and dozens of volunteers.

Zuccaro wrote to the faculty, administration and staff, “Please know the kids and I really appreciate your support.   I heard all day what a beautiful campus we have, and I agree.  Trinity is something special.”

Trinity President Dr. Rob Mullen lauded the work of Zuccaro, the team, their parents, and all who made the tournament possible: “It was exciting to see the packed cafeteria. It was also interesting to see the very organized and intricate work it takes to pull this off. Such events require cooperation from multiple schools and a large cast of volunteers. The Speech and Debate community is loyal and passionate about this activity. The students benefit.”

The  sweepstakes results were as follows:

Overall Speech:

  1. Rowan
  2. Knott County
  3. Paul Laurence Dunbar
