Having Fun Just Par for this Course

Trinity’s Golf Club is all about fun. Among the latest additions to the school’s activities offerings, the Golf Club is open to all students no matter their skill level. Moderators Mr. Alex Dotsey and Mrs. Shannon Barr were looking to provide students a chance to play golf at locations like Cherokee Park and Topgolf.

Dotsey said he and Barr wanted to give students a chance to play even if they weren’t on the golf team, another way to get more students active.

Sophomore Ben Morris explained why he joined the Golf Club: “Honestly, I just enjoy playing golf. Me and some of my friends get to go to the golf course. It’s a good time.”

Honestly, with these guys I just like to see them have a good time and relax and get away from schoolwork. This club really helps build camaraderie between age groups and skill levels.

Morris, whose favorite player is Tiger Woods and favorite golf course “probably Cherokee,” said he would recommend joining the club: “It’s a good time, and the people running it are some great people. It’s pretty chill. You get to go out and have a good time.”

Club members have varied golf backgrounds. Sophomore Wesley Georgel said, “I was also on the golf team, so I have a lot of experience with golfing, and I’ve been golfing since I was seven years old. (The club) seemed like a fun opportunity to go golfing with my friends.”

Georgel said of his best team scores, “I shot a 70 in a tournament this year. I came in second place out of 87 competitors.”

Dotsey described his favorite part of the new club: “Honestly, with these guys I just like to see them have a good time and relax and get away from schoolwork. This club really helps build camaraderie between age groups and skill levels.”
