Louisville, KY – Trinity High School has named Mike Brumfield as varsity head coach for the golf team. He succeeds Steven Tompkins, who stepped down after a successful stint as head coach. Coach Brumfield was a four-year letterman in golf in high school at Elizabethtown High School and followed that as a four-year star at Morehead State University. His accomplishments at MSU include: – 1991-93 named team captain – Individual and team championships in 1993 – Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in 1993 – Low amateur in the 1993 Kentucky Open, placing fourth Brumfield is also in the Morehead State Hall of Fame for golf. In addition to his collegiate prowess, Brumfield also is a 10-time men’s individual champion at Elizabethtown Country Club, five-time champion at Woodhaven Country Club, was the 2012 individual champion at Standard Country Club and won the 2012 Glasgow Country Club Invitational. “Trinity High School has such a great reputation in this community and across the state,” Brumfield said. “I think the most important thing these young men are getting is a great education, and golf can be an important part of the total package. I look forward to the challenge.” Assisting Brumfield will be Joe Frederick ’88, Pat Barry, Dave Peege ’81 and Chris Toth ’06.
