SPORTS DIGEST Swimmers finish fourth in state as Cooper wins 100 butterfly The swimming Rocks racked up 190.5 points in the state swimming championships, held at the University of Louisville’s Ralph Wright Natatorium. This score was good for fourth place, finishing behind St. Xavier, Covington Catholic and Ballard. Junior Thomas Cooper won a state crown in the 100 butterfly (50.00, school record) and placed third in the 200 free (1:39.72). Trinity’s 200 free relay (Cooper, Preston Schilling, Chandler Lichtefeld, Daniel Whitehead) also scored a third (school record). Schilling added a second place in the 100 breaststroke (57.69). Lichtefeld (seventh in two events) and Nick Johnson (fifth in one-meter diving) also added points. Chris Owen, Josh LeClair, David Bunnell and Michael Gilligan added points in the medley relay. Cooper and Schilling were named First Team and Second Team All-State, respectively. Moderator/coach Wayne Kraus thanked coaches Kelly, Scott and Jack “on a job well done.” Three basketball Rocks on All-Region team Congratulations to Trinity seniors Darryl Hicks and James Quick for being named to the Seventh Region All-Region first team. Senior Miles Rice was named to the second team.
