Trinity volleyball has enjoyed tremendous success over the years, having garnered state titles and undefeated seasons. One of leaders of this year’s team, which will play squads from Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, is junior Will Steer. Steer has been playing volleyball since the fourth grade and continues to improve. Steer said, “I believe that I can always improve; practice makes perfect, and I intend to keep practicing.” Steer, who is a third-year volleyball player, used to play basketball but decided to completely dedicate himself to volleyball. He stands at over well over six feet, making him a threat at the front of the court where he sets up shots. He said, “Volleyball is a team effort. You might be on your game that day, but if your team isn’t performing, you’re probably not going to pull off the win.” When Steer is not playing for Trinity, he plays for a travel team called the Louisville Fury. The Fury last year went to Minnesota, where they competed for a national title against other travel teams. One of Steer’s teammates, junior Patrick Miles, said he believes Trinity will do well this year, but the team has some “minor tweaks to work on.” Miles praised Steer’s contributions and work ethic. He said, “He’s definitely a great player; being so tall helps. He is also a team player who focuses in practice and uses what he learned out on the court.”
