As MTV becomes known as more than just music television, it has been host to multiple reality shows, documentaries and movies. A new addition to MTV, a reality show called “Jersey Shore,” puts multiple “Guidos” (as they call themselves) in a house on the New Jersey coastline. The term “Guido,” as defined by the “Urban Dictionary” is “a pathetic excuse for a male, not necessarily of Italian decent, but most likely; usually native to the New York/New Jersey tri-state area.” “Jersey Shore” consists of eight “Guidos” and their lives on the New Jersey coastline, where they party and deal with all sorts of issues. The cast is as follows: Angelina, 22, Staten Island; Jenni, “J WOWW,” 23, Franklin Square, N.Y.; Mike “The Situation,” 27, Staten Island; Nicole, “Snooki,” 21, Marlboro, N.Y.; DJ Pauly D, 28, Johnston, R.I.; Ronnie, 23, The Bronx; Sammi, “Sweetheart,” 22, Hazlet, N.J.; and Vinny, 21, Staten Island. Angelina is a girl who has a tendency to talk before she thinks. She also tends to say things without caring what people think, and that gets her into lots of trouble. Jenni has a boyfriend but has been known to get around. Mike “The Situation” likes to use the phrase The Situation, thus earning him his nickname. “Snooki” is a girl who has trouble getting guys. Wherever she goes she puts on full makeup and tries to start fights; she eventually gets cracked by a drunken guy at a bar. DJ Pauly D is one of Rhode Island’s most famous DJ’s. He orders gel by the case and uses it twice a day, every day. Ronnie is the meathead of the group, and he tends to get into multiple fights throughout the show. Sammi “Sweetheart” is the prettier girl of the group but is known to keep to herself, and Vinny is a mama’s boy who just turned 21 and is looking for a great time. The show features multiple situations that are smarter than anyone in this group. It features them going to different night clubs and occasionally getting into fights and sounding extremely stupid. The show is surrounded by drama and alcohol, and is the life stories of eight stupid people. If you like a show with stupid people doing stupid things, then enjoy “Jersey Shore.”
