Throughout the school year there are many ways to add points to your House. One of the ways students can contribute to their House is to enter a piece in the House Art Contest. The winner picked by the faculty was senior Cody Joel of Becket House. Joel earned 20 points for Becket. Senior Tommy Graven of Toussaint earned 15 points as runner-up and the third-place finisher was Dante’s Alex Rivera, who earned 10 points. At the deadline 26 pieces were turned in. Joel said, “I wanted to draw the picture of Dave Grohl in a non-traditional way and work in a medium I hadn’t used before.” David Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana and now is the lead singer for the Foo Fighters. Ms. Debbie Sweitzer was one of the teachers who helped make the House Art Contest possible. She said she enjoys all the art submitted and appreciates the work students put into the art. Sweitzer said of the students who submitted pieces to the contest, “I’m always impressed with the quality of the work that’s submitted, and I hope they will continue with their creative endeavors.”
