New Tasty Venezuelan Restaurant Open near Trinity

Señora Arepa opened back in late August near Trinity on St. Mattews Avenue. The place is booming with business and is right in the heart of St. Matthews.

Upon arrival there was a grass bull right at the entrance that was a fun piece of art to admire. When seated the waiters and servers were beyond polite and go the extra mile. If you have never been to Señora Arepa before, they will give you a rundown of the menu to ensure that you understand what you are reading. They do this because a lot of the menu is in Spanish and is hard for the average customer to be able to read. The waiters are super friendly and are more than willing to answer any questions that you have about the menu.

Señora Arepa did an excellent job of showing that they are ready to take on the challenge and be a thriving place to grab a bite to eat at.

To start off, we had the Tostones and the empanadas. My personal favorite of these two were the empanadas, which is a bread filled with chicken, beef, pork, or fish, as well as a good variety of other vegetables. Every bite with these empanadas was another tasty surprise. The tostones were fried bread with cole slaw, salsa, queso, and chives on top. All this with the crunchy texture of the tostones went well with each other.

For the entrée I got the Patacon con queso which was a very stringy queso at the base with those crunch tostones, steak, peppers, onions, and more layered all within the cheese. This was very tasty and is like a steak bowl that you would get at Qdoba or Chipotle. The arepas, which is what Señora Arepa is all about, do not disappoint whatsoever. The arepa is a dough which is filled with all sorts of meat, vegetables, peppers and more. They are similar to the empanadas but the arepas vary with different cheeses, meats, avocado, chimichurri and many more combinations to go with that. You also have your own very choice of sauces to choose from and are all brought to your table upon arrival of your food. These sauces include cilantro garlic, Cora, garlic, hot sauce, ketchup, and rosado.

Señora Arepa did an excellent job of showing that they are ready to take on the challenge and be a thriving place to grab a bite to eat at. The food is great, and the atmosphere is top notch. It’s a fun place to be at and hang out and the people there are great to be around.  To give Señora Arepa a rating on a scale of 1-10, it gets a 7.4. There were no flaws that I saw on my first visit besides the food being a bit pricey. Señora Arepa was a nice place to go to try a new cuisine.
