“There’s a lot of memories,” junior Keshav Heragu said. “He’s the most inspirational teacher.” Heragu spoke of Mr. Chuck Servino, who retired in December due to health issues after teaching at Trinity for 33 years. Heragu said, “He has helped many students to be successful, and his methods of teaching helped students who learned differently understand history better.” As a social studies teacher and coach, Servino inspired countless students. Junior Sean Cook said, “I remember how laidback he was.” Cook said Servino made him want to be a teacher himself. Servino took teaching to another level, helping students who struggled. He was honored in 2010 as the Learning Disabilities Association of Kentucky Beacon of Hope Teacher of the Year. After Servino received the award, colleague Mrs. Linda Whitworth said, “I know we would all agree that he is more than deserving of this award.” Traditional Department chair at the time, Whitworth said of Servino, “He has made an incredible difference in the lives of so many of our academically challenged students, and to quote a current freshman, ‘He is the smartest man in the world!'” Some students called Servino, a 1973 Trinity alumnus, their favorite teacher or the best history teacher ever. As Cook emphasized, “He was really cool to all his students and made learning understandable.”

Coach Servino was like a father figure to me while I was at Trinity. I wish him well. My only hope is that I can be half the man he was. He is a great person all the way around.
