In the first half Dante House’s Ryan McCauley was hot from the three-point line and led the Phoenix with 12 points. Dante’s Nate Kosek and Blake Strozdas also contributed 7 and 5 points, respectively. In the first half Toussaint was led by Mason Szcapinski’s 9 points, and Tyler Marshall contributed five. At the end of the half the score was Dante 31 – Toussaint 23. During halftime, the finals of the House 3-Point Contest was held. Seton House’s Alex Wilder and T.J. Colby and Wilder hoped that their 15 threes would be enough to outlast the Wolfpack’s shooters, but McGehee and Pfaadt were able to score 18 to win this year’s contest. During much of the second half the Phoenix were outhustled by the Monarch’s Szcapinski, who led Toussaint with 10 points, but Dante’s Travis Wright stepped up his game and led the Phoenix with 12 points. At the end of regulation time the score was tied 57-all, and the game went into a sudden-death overtime. Despite both teams’ efforts to prolong the game, it was Szcapinski who finally sealed the deal with three-point shot for the Monarchs to win the game over the Phoenix 60-57.
