One of the most notable figures to be seen around Trinity is the Advanced and Honors Academic Dean, Mr. Jeremy Jackson. A man of strong faith, he found teaching to be his calling and has been teaching ever since graduating college. He worked at our rival, St. X, for 13 years before switching to Trinity and becoming a core part of our community ever since.
Jackson, having lived in Indiana, went to study at Indiana University, where he majored in both biology and education. His incredible experience there has made him believe “we’re lucky to have two excellent college counselors that help guide students to” as rich an experience as he’s had. He is incredibly passionate about both science and education, and a place where he could explore these interests is one he found to be “the greatest place in the world.”
After Jackson graduated, he worked a summer sampling streams for the Department of Natural Resources. He found this work interesting but said it just wasn’t for him. He later ran into one of his old biology teachers, who asked him “why [he didn’t] try moving?” He had always had an interest in education, illustrated by his obtaining a bachelor’s in education.
The very next day, Jackson received a call from a friend at St. X about a teaching position that had just opened up. A devout Catholic, he saw this as a sign and said that “when God intervenes… if I talk the talk, I have to walk the walk.”
The past few years have marked an era of change at the core of Trinity. Dr. Mullen has retired, with Mr. Torra now taking the reins as our president. Even Dr. Zoeller is retiring, someone who Jackson states he has “learned more from professionally than any other person.” There will be very large shoes to fill.
Jackson is confident that this will lead to nothing but “continued success” for our school, especially with the new construction on the 4050 Building. Trinity will always be a college-preparatory school, now with an emphasis on state-of-the-art STEM programs, which Jackson himself has helped push forward.
