Rocks At Work – An Insight into the Busy Lives of Our Trinity Brothers

Each year, Trinity students put time and effort into their work in the classroom to be the best students they can be. What often goes overlooked is the effort our peers put in outside the classroom, working at their off-campus jobs. Whether it be for some weekend spending money, saving up for college, or paying for gas and food, each job takes commitment and discipline from these students to balance schoolwork and their duties. In this story, we want to highlight some notable Trinity students who display what it means to be men of faith and character in the real world. Each student was asked the same two questions: How long have you worked, and what do you enjoy about your job?

Logan Franklin – Class of 2026

Logan has been working at Green District in St. Matthews for two years now, since his sophomore year of high school. He enjoys the light workload to balance his busy schedule, consistent hours, and good pay he receives. Outside of working and school, Logan likes to play basketball and golf in his free time.

Carson Blanford – Class of 2026

Carson is a senior member of the Trinity Bass Fishing team and has attended Trinity all four years. He has also been working at Green District St. Matthews for 3 and a half years, going through his whole high school experience while working. He enjoys the pay he receives to save up for college and have some extra for going out. He also enjoys being able to boss his friends around at work.

Albert Nguyen and Raymond Schmitt  – Class of 2026

Albert and Raymond have both been working at the Graeter’s on Breckenridge Lane by Trinity for a little over half a year now; since April of 2025. Albert is a senior this year and is involved in Beta Club and Trinity’s Y-Club. What Albert says he likes about working there is the flexibility he has over his schedule and being able to get special events off, easily swap shifts, etc. He also enjoys the good wages he receives as it allows him to put money into his savings. Raymond is a senior member of the Trinity Bass Fishing team, as well as a member of Pep Club. Likewise, to Albert, Raymond also enjoys the pay, helping him with necessities like food and gas. He also enjoys the light schedule Graeter’s provides, a fair relation between hours worked and pay, balanced in his busy schedule.

George Slahta and Michael Hourigan (Author) – Class of 2026

Michael and George both work at Woodhaven Country Club, out in the Fern Creek area. Michael is a member of Y-Club and enjoys doing community service through Trinity. He has been working there for 4 years now, the longest of anyone on this list, and is dedicated to the relationships he has built while working there. He enjoys having the freedom to choose his own hours and when he works, as well as becoming friends with the members of the club, bringing him many connections. George has attended Trinity for all four years and enjoys attending football and basketball games for Trinity. He has been working there for 1 and a half years now. He also likes the flexibility they offer and being able to work with his friends.

Wyatt Bonifer and Logan Judd – Class of 2026

Wyatt and Logan both work at Hurstbourne Country Club, a drive just under 10 minutes from Trinity down Shelbyville Road. Wyatt is a senior member of the Golf team, as well as being involved in the Advanced Program. Wyatt has been working there for over a year and a half now, working mainly in the spring and summer. When asked the same question, Wyatt said he enjoys working outside, around golf, and with his friends. Logan is involved at Trinity through Pep Club and enjoys playing basketball with friends in his free time. He has been working at Hurstbourne since the start of summer and enjoys forming relationships with members. He also enjoys working on the golf course.

Evan Klein – Class of 2026

Evan is a senior this year and is involved in Pep Club and the production of TTV, as well as other Trinity media. He has been working at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Oxmoor Mall for over a year and a half now. He enjoys the good pay for the hours he works, as well as the discounts he receives on merchandise.

While this article highlights a few select examples of our peers working outside of school, many more students at Trinity work countless hours to provide for themselves and others. From freshmen to seniors, students work hard, gain valuable life skills, and mature through their jobs. What these students all share in common, is their remarkable ability to balance heavy workloads in school and their commitments to working, all while being able to enjoy what they love in their free time. These students display what it means to be active in our community and make time for everything that comes their way.
